PRODUCING A POP-UP: THE HUB GALLERY PARTNERSHIPS BEHIND CAW23’S ‘SIDE-BY-SIDE’ EXHIBITION

Each year, Cayman Art Week features temporary exhibitions and pop-up galleries where artists can collaborate and show their work. This year, the Hub Gallery took over a former restaurant space in Camana Bay to present ‘side-by-side’, a pop-up exhibition with work by ten local artists.

“The CAW 2023 Hub Gallery pop-up is delighted to have been part of another successful Cayman Art Week,” said exhibition producer Pamela McDonough-Brown.

More than 120 guests attended the Collectors’ & Artists’ Reception on Tuesday 30 May. The gallery’s opening event was sponsored by RF Bank & Trust, a regional private bank with over 25 years of experience in investment and wealth management services.

“RF is committed to the growth, development and sustainability of the communities it serves,” said Brett Hill, President & CEO, RF Bank & Trust. “This aligns very well with Cayman Art Week whose goal is to provide a platform that connects local artists with the community, fostering quality discussions, engaging stakeholders, and bringing us all together in the collective celebration of the heart and spirit of the Cayman Islands.  RF is pleased to be a part of such an amazing initiative.”

The full sponsor list contributing to the reception, the open evening during the CAW West bus tours, and throughout the duration of the pop-up included National Gallery of the Cayman Islands, Camana Bay, RF Bank & Trust (Cayman) Limited, Jacques Scott, and the Union Grill.

“In addition to our sponsors, we’d also like to thank our artists for their creativity and beautiful artworks, the public for visiting our gallery throughout the week and those collectors who purchased from our selection of artworks,” said McDonough-Brown. “Lastly, we’d like to thank those individuals who helped with the gallery set up, break down and for everything offered and/or done throughout the week. We hope to see you all next year.”

Artists who exhibited at ‘side-by-side’ included dready (Shane Aquart), Chris Mann, Kaitlyn Elphinstone, David Bridgeman, John Reno Jackson, John Broad, Teresa Grimes, Jodi Holmes, Tansy Maki, Simon Tatum, and Kevin Rolle.
